Frequently Answered Questions

FAQ's regarding this site and other items!

Everyone Loves Quick Answers!

1. How do I register my child?

Registering is easy! Just click on "Register Now" and create your family account. If this is your first time using the Westgate SI Play site, click on "Create an Account" and follow the prompts. The person being entered must be an adult (parent or primary care giver). If you want to add another adult, click on "add an adult" and if you don't want to add another adult, click on "skip." The next screen will then allow you to enter your children.

2. What sports can I register my child in?

We offer league play for soccer, basketball, baseball and t-ball. These are not skills classes, but they are leagues with teams. All practices are held at Westgate. Games, however, for soccer games are played at Rhodes Park, baseball and t-ball at Driving Park Recreation Center, and older divisions for basketball at Schiller Recreation Center.

3. How can I volunteer to be a coach?

We always need coaches for all of our teams! To become a coach you need to have some knowledge of the sport, but more importantly, you need to have the skills to work with children and teach them the basic skills of the sport AND life! The outcome of the games is the least important thing in youth sports! We want all of our players to learn, have fun, and want to continue to participate!

If you would like to be a volunteer coach, just register yourself AND complete the backgorund check. Once the check comes back approved, we will add you to our coaches list. ALL of our volunteers are required to take the background check 1x per year and the great thing is it is for 1 year, so if you decicde you want to coach the next sport, you are already approved!

We will have coaches meetings prior to each season to go over our expectations and the rules of the sport. We will always be available to help answer any questions you may have, at any point during the season!

4. How can I request my child to be with a certain player and/or coach?

All you have to do is fill in the special request box or the comment box. We cannot guarantee any requests BUT we will do our best to make sure they take place!

5. How can I find out more about the Westgate Recreation Center and the Columbus Recreation & Parks Department?
